Talking with Spirituals by Andrew Jamieson
Solo piano arrangements that bring melodies of African American spirituals and rhythms and harmonies of black worship traditions into dialogue with avant-garde piano harmonies and passionate free improvisation. The dialogue is meant to highlight the perspectives and struggles of both the African American and experimental musical communities, and highlight any common ground and tension that emerge in bringing the two together.
Andrew Jamieson is a pianist, composer and arranger dedicated to black gospel music, experimental improvisation and the integration of the two.
