ZE BIB! is a collaborative effort between cellist/electronic musician Shanna Sordahl and percussionist Robert Lopez. Debuted in the warm Oakland summer of 2013, Ze Bib!'s music grapples with the spastic intensity arising from explorations into sound worlds developed both collectively and independently. As active musicians for a variety of projects in the Bay Area, Lopez and Sordahl's extreme musical interests converge with explosive force. A desire to continuously expand and reinterpret their relationships with their instruments leads to an ever exciting dynamic that will intrigue and entrance. Their music is tinged with influences ranging between noise, free improvisation, art rock, and heavy drone.

Tom Djll / Julia Mazawa

Tom Djll was a poor farm boy when he was first taught by a pig that sound is a life-or-death matter. He went on to Art & Racial Sensitivity High School in Taos and was 86’d from Boston Jazzbo School because he didn’t Dig Bill Evans. He saw his first synthesizer filling a room with a view of Pike’s Uncompressed Peak. Later, he assembled his own Serge system and used it throughout the 80s and 90s, mostly in front of assorted deceased constituencies. After another bout with the academic world – Mills College CCM, two rounds to a draw – he successfully leveraged his Orange Threat Level to a career in the Porcine Diplomatic Corps, and has been searching for the perfect pig sound ever since. For this performance he will use modular synth and circuit bent Keyar.

Oakland's Julia Mazawa uses a small turntable, very odd records and some guitar pedals to create an odd, magical music. She and a co-conspirator run Nice Ass Records and Tapes, which issues unique recordings on cassettes and 78 and 45 RPM records.

The (subnaught) Band

Oscillations (2013) is a set of compositions for oscillators that exploits digital computers to execute experiments in algorithmic composition and precise intonation that would not be possible by other means. The (subnaught) Band adjoins human improvisers to these experiments, resulting in a uniquely expressive form that explores the connection between a sound and its creation. Bring pillows.
