Songs on the Verge w/Theresa Wong + Powerdove

Studio Grand presents Songs on the Verge with two solo sets by Theresa Wong and Powerdove

Theresa Wong will present a set of solo pieces that represent a personalized 'total art form' centered around the voice and cello. Expect pure energy: a relentless digging to unearth the raw, wild vibrations of the materials at hand. For the concert at Studio Grand, Powerdove will perform her songs solo. A recent exploration at the intersection of song and improvisation has resulted in a suite of Powerdove songs arranged and composed for homemade electronics, sampler, and acoustic guitar. More performance piece than a collection of songs, both beautiful and terrifying.

Powerdove

Powerdove's music has been described as "music oscillating between gentle madness and mutant avant-garde" (Longuer D'ondes). Since 2013, the trio of Annie Lewandowski, John Dieterich, and Thomas Bonvalet has released two studio records, "Do You Burn?" (Murailles Music/Africantape/Circle into Square) and "Arrest" (Murailles Music/Sickroom Records). Lewandowski has performed at festivals and venues across the United States and Europe, including the Casa da Música (Porto, Portugal), the Hippodrome (London), Musica Nelle Valli (San Martin Spino, Italy), the Great American Music Hall (San Francisco), the Frieze Arts Fair (London), Avalon (Los Angeles), and Redcat (Los Angeles).
