Avant Pop: a special evening of cutting-edge, Bay Area-bred exploratory song. This unique bill features Oakland-based art rock trio Grex, called “true genre-warping music” and “a near-seamless blend of modern jazz, indie rock, and blues rock,” adventurous folk-inspired prog ensemble Jack O’ the Clock (who Henry Cow guitarist Fred Frith has hailed as one of his “favorite bands”), and chamber jazz all-stars The Dirty Snacks Ensemble (featuring members of the Oakland Active Orchestra, Bells Atlas, Ash Reiter band).
