In this west coast premiere of Resist/Surrender, Risa Jaroslow peels back the veneer of our culture's assumptions about maleness exposing an explosive physicality. The piece asks what masculinity could mean if we reconciled our attraction to and repulsion from the assumed power of maleness. The cast includes four dancers and eight men who are not trained dancers. The original score by Scott Johnson will be played live by the Paul Dresher Ensemble. The program will also include a world premiere performance of Four Dialogues: A Solo choreographed and performed by Jaroslow, based on four catalytic ideas from Bay Area choreographers Laura Arrington, Christian Burns, Katie Faulkner and Keith Hennessy.
