BARBEDWIRE is a series of 37 new graphic scores, composed by Phillip Greenlief in Dec 2014 during a composing retreat in coastal Maine; performed tonight by:

These astonishing graphic scores create a system of free progressions for players, constrained to sync and interact with partners at path-crossings

After a series of brilliant performances in 2015, BARBEDWIRE returns in a new configuration with tw new co-conspirators — Evelyn Davis & gabby fluke-mogul.

Lucie Vítková is a composer, improviser and performer (accordion, harmonica, voice and tap dance) from Brno (city of the "Brno Dragon") in the Czech Republic. Her compositions focus on sonification (compositions based on abstract models derived from physical objects), while in her improvisation practice explores characteristics of discrete spaces through the interaction between sound and movement. In her recent work, she is interested in the musical legacy of Morse Code and the social-political aspects of music and art in relation to everyday life.

As part of her current West Coast tour, Lucie will join a choice crew of local improvisers for an evening of balancing chairs and turning somersaults on the ethereal tightrope of free improv… whilst tap-dancing (at least in Lucie’s case).
