Punjabi Tea House was born in 2016 out of a series of weekly electronic improvisation sessions in Mtn. View. Members Paul Buser, Mark Lentczner, and Dylan Phan hail from very different backgrounds: Jazz, EDM, and pre-MIDI electronic music studio work. Their interest lies in shifting the focus among timbre, harmony, and rhythm.
http://punjabitea.house/The Alex Jenkins Trio features drummer Alex Jenkins, a stalwart of the northern California jazz scene, leading a group with nor-cal compadres Kerry Kashawagi on bass and Clifford Childers on Trombone, Bass Trumpet and Harmonica.
Jenkins is a longtime practitioner of jazz drumming, performing throughout California and beyond. He has also traveled to India to immerse himself deeply in Indian percussion styles. Those global influences can be heard in his songwriting and playing.
