Boston-based soprano and double bass duo, Departure, returns to C4NM to present a program featuring soprano, double bass, and accessories! The concert features pieces that expand the range of the soprano/double bass combo using toy piano, musical saw, jingle bells, iPhone, and more. The program features composers such as Katherine Balch, Beat Furrer, Talia Amar, and Stephen Dembski.
Departure is a Boston-based soprano and double bass duo comprised of Nina Guo and Edward Kass. Committed to expanding the repertoire for the “high-low” partnership, Departure commissions and performs new works. Nina and Eddie are particularly interested in how extended technique and theatricality can expand the range of expression and engage audiences. Departure firmly believes that new music can and should be accessible to all, and by encouraging dialogue with audiences, new music will not be viewed as a niche genre.
