Nora Stanley Quartet
This musical reunion finds Nora Stanley (alto), Michael Orenstein (piano), Kanoa Mendenhall (bass) and Timothy Angulo (drums) back together after dispersing across the country to pursue their studies. These budding young musicians will present an eclectic set of new original music, standards and not-so-standards, exploring the boundaries between written and spontaneous composition.
As young artists the four are grappling with what it means to continue the tradition of the music in a landscape that is so different from the past, exploring questions of the past, present and future through new compositions and treatments of some of the music that has made them who they are today.
