Fred Frith – prepared electric guitar
Fred Frith learned his craft playing in rock bands, notably Henry Cow, and creating music in the recording studio. His compositions have been performed by Ensemble Modern, Arditti Quartet, Robert Wyatt, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, ROVA Sax Quartet, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, among many others. He also composes film soundtracks, including the Oscar-nominated Last Day of Freedom and the much-loved Rivers and Tides, and he is the subject of the award-winning Step Across the Border. However, he is best known as an improviser on the electric guitar, an instrument he has continuously reinvented during a stellar career of almost 50 years.
