Katinka Kleijn defies today’s traditional definition of a cellist, transitioning dexterously through classical, contemporary, experimental, folk, free jazz and progressive rock music. A member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), her innovative projects include Daniel Dehaan’s Intelligence in the Human-Machine, in which she performs a duet with her own brainwaves.
Samuel Adams is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music, drawing his inventively orchestrated and atmospheric works from traditional forms, noise and digital culture. Currently a Mead Composer in Residence with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, he has received commissions from Carnegie Hall, San Francisco Symphony, New World Symphony and St. Lawrence String Quartet and collaborates with many of today’s leading voices in contemporary music.
