About Hazel Atlas

About Vegan Butcher
Playing a new batch of song only written in January and only using a nine-note scale, Vegan Butcher features a power trio of composer-lyricist John Shiurba (Molecules, Eskimo) on guitar, Wil Hendricks (Califone) on bass, and Suki O'Kane (Thingamajigs Performance Group, She Mob) on drums, with elegiac vocals provided this time by Angela Coon (Kneel, Dot Dot Dot, Toychestra, Ninewood). Shiurba is known for his work in art rock, contemporary composition and noise. Through the use of extended techniques and unusual preparations, he expands the traditional sound range of the guitar, producing stunning, often unrecognizable results. Vegan Butcher takes all of its lyrical content from John's early morning somniloquism.

About 'Fraid o' Freyja
FOF is the just-intoned psychedelic alter-ego of Thingamajigs Performance Group. Born of a tuning experiment enacted on a Wurlitzer dubbed "The Schocker/Fokker Tuning"; given life by the "what-would-happen-if" one month rental of a rock rehearsal space, sitting on four hours of mastered recordings ready for release, it continues what Thingamajigs Performance Group started, only louder. This performance will feature the FOF treatment of Lou Harrison's Largo Ostinato.
