Biography:

Lucio Menegon is a composer, improviser, producer and sonic artist. A guitarist of over 30 years, he performs in varied collaborative and improvisational situations and as guitarist, sideman and colorist to traditional songwriters and performers. Lucio focuses on the creative use of melody and dynamics – judiciously using effects, live looping and found sound to sufficiently mangle a rock ‘n’ roll, blues, country, punk and experimental background.

Lucio appears on over thirty recordings and has performed all over the globe from dingy bars to fancy theaters with the likes of Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham, Moe! Staiano, Laurie Amat, Myles Boisen, Carla Kihlstedt, Amy DeNio, Motoko Honda, Emily Hay, Mark De gli Antoni, Edith Frost, Anton Barbeau, Mark Growden and Gunnar Madsen, Wil Hendricks, Phantom Drummer, Jon Brumit, Wayne Grim, Suki O’Kane, Rob Price, David Grollman, John Hanes, Val Esway, Joe Rut, Heather Combs, Matt Davignon, Ross Hammond and Polly Moller. He was the founding member of Bay Area bands Ramona the Pest, Zebu and the Ho!

Film credits include the score for the 2009 short, Nightsoil in collaboration with SF Film-makers Thad Povey and Al Alvarez, an award winning score for John Harden’s short, La Vie d’un Chien as well as live improvised scores with the Overdub Club, Scratch Film Junkies and Cinepimps. His work has appeared at the SF International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival and the SF Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Music on Film Festival in Prague, CZ.
