Jon BrumitLink to home page : Jon Brumit    Biography: Jon Brumit's first vinyl remix was at age 16 using a Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack, and he once played covers of tv shows on a Baldwin Organ. Although he was raised in a loving and caring home and won several skateboard contests, he was once taken into custody for driving a borrowed Chevette through lawns in Catoosa County, Georgia and was once punched in the face for shooting off fireworks behind a woman at a gas station in Tennessee.Jon has composed, conducted, experimented, and or played music under the following names: Cat Head Biscuits, Boondoggle, Polar Easter Island, Choc Electrique, Catch and Release, Gown, The New Bobby Sextet, The Unduane, Jon the Band, Van Boven, Organoff, Sliv & Dulet, Jon Brumit, mattttam-jonnoj, Too Bobs, nprkstra, and Everlasting the Way. He has performed solo or collaboratively at Pacific Film Archive, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Make Out Room, RX Gallery, Southern Exposure, Sony Metreon, Portland's Dunes, the SF Dump, Jazz House, Baltimore's 8 x 10, DC's Black Cat, 21 Grand, Luggage Store Gallery, Chattanooga's biggest strip club, Mama Buzz, Detroit Art Space, Detroit's Gold Dollar, Cranbrook Musem of Art, Knoxville's Snake Snatch, and the Black Box in Oakland. He has performed in duos or larger ensembles with Wayne Grim, Sean Meadows, Matt Davignon, Bob Boster, Lisa Mezzacappa, Josh Churchill, Allesandro Olla, Joe Goldring, Eric Glick-Rieman, Sudhu Tewari, Jorge Boeringer (sorry for the butchery), Jen Baker, Kristin Miltner, Jesse Olson, Sarah Wagner, Tom Snively, Matt Volla, Luke Powell, and the Detroit Chicken Ministry's own Jack Pine. He often uses drums, a typewriter piano, cordless tool battery chargers, found records, tone generators, and miscellaneous electronic flatulence to improvise and compose.
