Birgit Ulher is one of our favorite improvisers. It's been more than 4 years since the last time she was here, and we're delighted to have her back.

Birgit works mainly on extending the sounding possiblities of the trumpet by using splitting sounds, multiphonics and granular sounds and has developed her own extended techniques and preparations for producing these sounds. At this concert she will be joined by an all-star ensemble comprised of Kyle Bruckmann (oboe), Jacob Felix Heule (percussion), Tony Dryer (contrabass) and Tom Nunn (percussion) for a Company-style night of short improvisations by various groupings of the gathered company.

Presented in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut San Francisco.

Cost: Free, donations accepted.
