Rova Saxophone Quartet and the Fred Frith Trio

We’re proud to present two of the Bay Area’s most creative, premier, cutting-edge ensembles; featuring the four blazing saxophones of ROVA and the mind-blowing, avant-garde, extended electric guitar wizardry of Fred Frith and his power trio, -in a special album-release concert!

Rova and Fred Frith have collaborated numerous times since their first meet-up in Berkeley, October, 1979. Local performances, European concerts, Electric Ascension, and a major recording project in the 1990’s have all deepened their shared experience in this realm of creativity. This upcoming show will feature each group on its own for short sets, and then a culminating mashup that we’re all thrilled with. Fred’s trio is on fire, and Rova’s cooking up new information for the date. Not to be missed! The evening features the newest of Fred's trios, with bassist Jason Hoopes and drummer Jordan Glenn, celebrating the trio's 2016 trio release on Intakt.
