Thomas Schultz

Pianist Thomas Schultz performs works by Franz Schubert and Hyo-shin Na.

Franz Schubert Sonata in B-flat major, D. 960
Hyo-shin Na Variations
Franz Schubert Wanderer Fantasie, D. 760

This recital by Thomas Schultz includes two masterpieces by Schubert, a composer for whom he has a special affinity–the sublime B-flat Sonata and the ground-breaking Wanderer Fantasie and a work from 1990 by Hyo-shin Na, her Variations. Na’s music has been called “beautifully unpredictable, mysterious, hypnotic, extraordinarily evocative and original”. About one of Schultz’s Weill Recital Hall performances, Timothy Gilligan wrote in the New York Concert Review: “Schultz has both a deep understanding of Schubert’s music and the ability to communicate it–that is rare … and glorious”.
