RIGHTSTARTER presents a guttural sonic response to this political moment, rendered via improvised vamps on hot-button issues, original material, unexpected covers, and curveball collaborations with artists of all disciplines. The RIGHTSTARTER aesthetic is the zen of the boom-bap, with echoes of free jazz, funk, performance art, and musique concréte. We transgress boundaries, subvert expectations, and assert denied identities in hostile times. Our musical ancestors include Gil Scott-Heron, Leonard Cohen, John Cage, and Chuck D. Our name comes straight from a 1987 Public Enemy song.

Cost: $10-$20 sliding scale
