In Too Deep: Bleie + Chamberlain + visuals by Chelley Sherman & Jesse Austin

In Too Deep is a monthly series (every Second Saturday) curated by electronic music duo KYN (Josh Casey & Yari Bundy) in association with Studio Grand. Incorporating Bay Area experimental traditions and the sounds of Berlin’s underground dance scene, In Too Deep seeks to create a space for those left wanting more from the current sound of commercialized electronic music, and to present an audiovisual landscape incorporating rhythm, noise, and atmosphere. Expect live electronic music that moves you physically and spiritually. In an effort to create a truly immersive experience, each performance will be accompanied by live visuals from some of our favorite local artists.

BLEIE (LIVE)

Based out of the East Bay area of California, Sarah Bly produces and performs hardware-based experimental electronic music ranging from mercurial noisescapes to a more cerebral and singular techno.

CHAMBERLAIN (LIVE)

Chamberlain Zhang is a Chinese electronic musician, dj, improviser, poet and sound artist.

Coming from a background of experimental techno dj, he tells stories by manipulating sounds while performing and composing. He is also interested in exploring new possibilities in sounds, and new ways to experience sounds: music through sonic meditation, improvisation, composition, installation, electro-acoustic, and collaboration. For Chamberlain, space and future inspires drive and creativity.

Chamberlain’s music and poetry are highly based on the idea of transcendence, using sounds to describe things that are larger, approaching something, leaving something, being mentally affected by something, imagining and creating those and other scenarios. He explores sounds integrated with movement and spatiality, producing sonic architecture that remains.

"I believe the task of any art is to connect human beings to their higher nature" - c.z.

CHELLEY SHERMAN (VISUALS)
Chelley Sherman is a virtual artist from San Francisco. Her work is governed by patterns and texture which harness the neural systems that underlie enthrallment in darkness, ritual, reverie. Her practice consists of experiments with different mediums and displays such as virtual reality, projection mapping, and interactive audio visual installations. Sherman's work often focuses on human cognition, exploring perception in photic stimulus and non-linear narrative.

Through studies with a foundation in cognitive science and graphic arts, her works have been presented in installation and performances in media arts festivals in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.

JESSE AUSTIN (VISUALS)
Multi-modal art to enkindle digital ego death. Conscious thought is an ever pliable instrument for the creation of cognitive maps that define who we are and how we function. We are one way, but we could be any other way. Through embodiment experiments in imagined realities, we can expand the space of possibilities through which we create ourselves, relate those selves to others and to the ways we create and survive in the world, and ultimately plot the absolute freedom of all conscious life.
