Pinbokeh is a trio based out of Oakland, CA that explores lush textures and soundscapes. A collection of unmetered rhythms and stretched out harmonic patterns create pieces that are reminiscent of the Nels Cline Singers with the still ambiance of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Grouper. With each member of the group coming from rock, jazz, and contemporary classical backgrounds, Pinbokeh’s music renders varied influences and forms into their work.
Jess Rowland is a sound artist, musician, and composer, and a 2018-20 Princeton Arts Fellow. At UC Berkeley, she developed techniques for embedded sound and flexible sJess Rowlandpeaker arrays. Her research includes music perception, auditory neurosciences, and music technologies. In addition to an active art practice, she has taught Sound Art at The School of Visual Arts in New York and continues to present her work internationally.
