Daniel Martin-McCormick, former guitarist for Washington DC noise-punk band Black Eyes, has been playing solo shows for more than a year around the country. To fit the venue, DMM will be playing a low-volume set, in contrast with recent performances which have featured deafeningly-loud waves of feedback. This newer material emphasizes space and also the crowding of space with quiet sound-objects; sounds that are percieved as silences and vice versa; shifting centers; repetition; love and tension. Free and improvised but not free improv. Droning but not drone. A song but not really written. Guitar, voice, radio shack keyboard, walkman, mixer, delay, drum, amplifier.

Brian B. James has been playing shows in the new music ensemble Sound Test, performing original pieces, free improv blow outs and works by John Cage. This show marks his first solo performance of all orginal work, and also the live debut of his piece Music For Sleeping, which was written to be listened to only after one has fallen asleep. Like turning off the rest of the world and entering a personal and silent sonic landscape, one simulataneously listens and does not listen to M.F.S. Or perhaps, one listens and does not hear. Powerful yet not overbearing music from this young laptop wizard.
