MusicArt, in association with the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI), presents a cross-disciplinary, poetry-inspired concert, featuring pianist Annie Yim.

‘The Poet Speaks: from Debussy to Pärt’, a MusicArt conceptual concert, combines the recorded voices of composers and poets with live piano, juxtaposing poems from two centuries with musical responses to them by Debussy, Ravel, Cheryl Frances-Hoad, and Philip Glass. Arvo Pärt’s Für Alina will be performed with a specially commissioned poem ‘Sunlight’ by Zaffar Kunial. The concert includes extracts from a new work ‘Mirrors’ co-created by composer Raymond Yiu, poet Kayo Chingonyi and pianist Annie Yim.  More...

Bjll Dingalls
In the blur between acoustic and amplified, synthetic and analog, algorhythm and improvisation, clarity is forged anew only if you look ahead. Swinging serious sonic sledgehammers for a threefold lifetime now, Bill Hsu, Matt Ingalls, and Tom Djll lay the railroad into terra incognita.

Fletcher Pratt
Boundless in abstraction yet never disjointed, his sounds stretch like skin continuous across an impossible skeleton.

Quarantine Sessions #2 | A Distributed Electroacoustic Network Improvisation
Live streaming: https://youtu.be/E3TcwZXAwJw

The Coronavirus Crisis has changed our lives and we are in the midst of a long period without concerts as we knew them. In addition to the problem of large audiences, the regulations also make it 'virtually' impossible for musicians to get together, to rehearse, or perform. However, many technologies and solutions are already available, helping us to find new ways of collaborating and transporting our work to audiences.

In the past two weeks we have been programming, testing, and rehearsing in an online environment between California, which is facing a 'shelter-in-place' situation, Berlin (DE) with strict 'Kontakt- und Ausgangsbeschränkungen', and Ghent (BE). We are now announcing our first public concert, connecting six musicians from these locations and broadcasting the result as a Youtube live stream with audio and video feeds from each site.  More...

Live streaming: https://youtu.be/5eSeLVCh2cE
