Quarantine Sessions #4 | A Distributed Electroacoustic Network Improvisation

Live streaming: https://ccrma.stanford.edu/live/

The Coronavirus Crisis has changed our lives, and we are in the midst of a long period without concerts as we knew them. In addition to the problem of large audiences, the regulations also make it 'virtually' impossible for musicians to get together, to rehearse or perform. However, many technologies and solutions are already available, helping us to find new ways of collaborating and transporting our work to audiences.

In the past few weeks we have been programming, testing and rehearsing in an online environment between California, which is facing a 'shelter-in-place' situation, Berlin (DE) with strict 'Kontakt- und Ausgangsbeschränkungen', and Ghent (BE). We are now announcing our next public concert, connecting seven musicians and a painter from these locations, and broadcasting the result as a live stream with audio and video feeds from each site.  More...

Karl Evangelista Plays "No Gossip"

In celebration of the release of "Apura!" (Karl Evangelista with Alexander Hawkins, Louis Moholo-Moholo, and Trevor Watts) - releasing May 22 on Astral Spirits. (Pre-Order HERE)

Karl Evangelista will be performing a full-length (45 min) version of the classic Keith Tippett/Louis Moholo album "No Gossip". Inspired by the wild post improvisation of Derek Bailey and Han Bennink, this performance utilizes prerecorded elements of the original duo to craft an environment for solo improviser that is both safe and face-meltingly immediate.

May 22 commemorates the date that the Apura project (with Messrs. Moholo-Moholo & Alexaner Hawkins) would have debuted in the San Francisco Bay Area, had circumstances been different. This livestream will serve as a short-term consolation prize to the many friends, family, and fans who have offered their support.  More...
