InterMusic SF presents SF Music Day 2020 Broadcast, the thirteenth edition of its free annual music festival, in a special online format on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from noon to 6pm PDT. The free daylong streamed event features exclusive premiere performances by ten jazz, classical, chamber, and global music ensembles, professionally pre-recorded in San Francisco's Herbst Theatre.

This year’s ensembles are Del Sol String Quartet, Telegraph Quartet, Motoko Honda’s AIR Trio, the Musical Art Quintet, and Tom Stone/Elizabeth Dorman/Amos Yang, Mads Tolling & the Mads Men, Destiny Muhammad Trio, Ricardo Peixoto Trio with Marcos Silva and Brian Rice, Jeremy Cohen & Andrés Vera of Quartet San Francisco, and the Terrence Brewer Group.

Chris Brown performs two of his compositions for piano & interactive computer using the Buchla PianoBar keyboard interface. The show opens with a premiere performance of “Shuffle Bagatelles” (2020) in which twelve short compositions performed in random order are live sampled and transformed by the computer based stochastically on analysis data derived from the performance. Following a short intermission with video by Johanna Poethig, the concert concludes with “Obelisk” (2016), integrating a written score with improvisation between the pianist and interactive computer.  More...
