Lockdown Festival IV: The New Year (Online)

Featuring: Scott Amendola, Grex (Karl Evangelista + Rei Scampavia), SNEAL (Jacob Rimler), Evelyn Davis, Nik Francis (DC), William Roper (LA), Shayna Dunkelman (NY), gabby fluke-mogul (NY), and Usufruct (Polly Springhorn + Tim Walters).

Ringing in the new year. A host of extraordinary experimentalists and creative musicians join for a mini-online festival, streamed from home. Lockdown Festival IV promotes music of purpose at a time of continued - but hopefully soon-to-be-ending - strife.

Proceeds from this festival will be directed to causes of communal concern: Black Organizing Project in Oakland, Asian Improv aRts, and the invaluable, embattled work of percussionist Milford Graves.  More...

Ensemble for These Times (E4TT) will start the new year with the next installment of their wildly successful series of contemporary women composers. Sold out last season, their 2021 edition will feature two reprises from the COVID-shortened season: “Matrix” by Bay Area composer Elinor Armer to poetry by Ursula Le Guin and Rella Lossy; and “Rest These Hands” (2014) by Anna Clyne for solo violin. The concert will also include works by Tania León, Jessie Montgomery, Claudia Montero, Marti Epstein, Caroline Shaw, Jennifer Higdon, Missy Mazzoli, Vivian Fung, Anna Clyne, and the remarkable Grażyna Bacewicz.  More...
