Pascucci + Brzytwa
Crystal Pascucci (cello) and MaryClare Brzytwa (flutes and electronics) improvise as a duo, exploring sound and space. Their music utilizes both electronic and acoustic elements of sound production. Through improvisation, they stretch time and develop timbre. MaryClare Brzytwa is a multi-instrumental composer/performer based in San Francisco California . Specializing in electronic music, improvisation and flute, she draws from experimental, jazz, contemporary classical, and computer music traditions. Crystal Pascucci is a cellist with the Paul Dresher Ensemble, Opera Wolf, Oakland Active Orchestra, and the Magik*Magik Orchestra. Her improvisations are inspired by late romantic and new music aesthetics, while employing extended and experimental playing techniques. She works as a composer, improviser and teacher, and resides in Oakland CA.

Wild Hen is a group of four musicians who are deeply invested in the exploration, investigation and practice of free improvisation. The group performs pieces written by Crystal Pascucci (cellist), which utilize a variety of notational styles including standard, graphic and text that frame and focus the improvisations for each piece. Performers include Mark Clifford (vibes), Britt Ciampa (drums) and Rachel Condry. They will be joined by improvising vocalist, Lorin Benedict, who's work attempts to introduce more structurally involved elements into the field of vocal improvisation.
