We are pleased to announce the inaugural installment of a monthly series called "Little Nicky's" at Studio Grand in Oakland. Curated by Noah Phillips and Chuck Johnson, each month features a set by a Bay Area artist or group whose sound will complement the special atmosphere of Studio Grand, a multi-use arts space with intimate and lush acoustics. Guitarist and composer Chuck Johnson will open each installment with a solo performance.
For our opening night on Thursday October 23, Little Nicky's is proud to present clarinetist and composer
Ben Goldberg, whom John Zorn has described as “one of the greatest clarinetists I’ve ever heard.” Goldberg truly is a Bay Area treasure, and for this performance he will play a rare solo set.
Our next installment will be November 20 with a collaboration between filmmaker Paul Clipson and sound artist Ashely Bellouin.
