The Monday Make-Out
The cutting edge of Bay Area jazz and improvised music--

◉ Set 1, 8:30pm: Lewis Jordan Trio (introspective chamber jazz)

— Revered poet and master of the alto and bari saxophone, Lewis Jordan, who can effortlessly span the entire jazz tradition

— The Bay Area's Filipino-Beefheart jazz-rock-anything electric guitar virtuoso, Karl Evangelista

— The energetic and revolutionary percussion palette of Nava Dunkelman

Anything could happen when these three join in sonic ultra-space...

◉ Set 2, 9:30pm: Heikki Koskinen Quartet (new compositions by Bay Area experimentalists)

One of the best things to happen to the Bay Area jazz scene recently is the upsurge in appearances and new material from Finnish jazz master Heikki Koskinen, and his joint explorations of with neo-joikist Rent Romus of a "Suomen Jazz" to rival the cooly-hot Finnish Psychedelic Folk Scene.

They'll do some of Heikki's originals, Finnish tunes & maybe twist a couple holiday songs into oblivion.

Line-up:

— Heikki Koskinen: E-trumpet, keyboard, flutes
— Adam Lowdermilk: bass
— Timothy Orr: drums
— Rent Romus: sax & flutes

◉ Set 3, 10:30pm: Aaron Bennett's Electro-Magnetic Trans-Personal Orchestra (large group improvisation)

Aaron Bennett's E.M.T.P.O. ensemble use the electro-magnetic field of their collective mind, tuned and amplified by means of unique "breathing chart" compositions in a special graphic notation which Aaron has designed for large improvising ensembles to focus and unleash aural energies. The resulting sound is like nothing else and has amazed audiences in a string of orgone-accelerating Bay Area performances over the last two years.

— Aaron Bennett: saxes, leader & compositions
— Bishu Chatterjee (বিশু চ্যাটার্জি): bass
— Kristina Dutton: violin
— Karl Evangelista: guitar
— Jeff Hobbs: violin
— Darren Johnston: trumpet
— Joe Lasqo: MSP/laptop & synthesizer
