Karl Evangelista, former student of Myra Melford and graduate of the MA program at Mills College, is a fresh new voice in the Bay Area jazz scene, exploring an improvisational aesthetic that blends jazz, rock, western art music, contemporary sound and “noise” based art, and Filipino folk melody into a unique amalgamation of sounds reflecting his own life experience.
