On Thursday, March 19 at 7:30pm, Tom's Place presents
Carl Ludwig Hübsch (tuba) with
Kyle Bruckmann (oboe) and
Gino Robair (percussion)
and
Per-Anders Nillson (electronics) with
Phillip Greenlief (sax) and
Gino Robair (percussion)
Carl Ludwig Hübsch started out playing the clarinet. 32 years ago he came to his senses and switched to the tuba (my favorite instrument!) His improbable approach to the instrument is mostly indescribable, so here's a couple of video samples:

It'll be a challenge, but
Kyle Bruckmann and
Gino Robair should be able to keep up with him.
Swedish electronic improviser Per Anders Nilsson is an old friend of Tom's Place, and we're pleased to be able to host him again. Per Anders plays electronic instruments of his own design. We love the noisy, chaotic sounds he gets, and the incredibly expressive playing that his designs enable. Here's a clip of him playing with Palle Dahlstedt (his partner in duo pantomorf) and Tim Perkis a couple of years ago: http://vimeo.com/10341016 Tonight his trio partners will be
Phillip Greenlief and
Gino Robair.
