Active Music Series Presents: Goddess Aphonic + Sam Hertz + Inner Ear Brigade

**The Active Music Series is hosting our first show since the closing of The Uptown. We will be hosted by Omni Commons in Temescal, Oakland. The show will be earlier than in the past, with doors at 7pm, starting promptly at 7:30pm. We’re super stoked and hope you can celebrate the return of the series with us!**

Samuel Hertz: Samuel Hertz is a composer and performer whose work encompasses spatialized electroacoustic music, graphic notation, movement, and video. His work explores embodied sound, flexible structures, and the perceptive faculties of meaning-making, and ranges from fragile, sparse compositions to thick electronic textures. For Active Music Series, he will present a mixture of two composed environments: 'May Lie Weeping at the Sight of Still, Fragile' and 'lovebug,' both for electronics and no-input mixer.

Goddess Aphonic: Dark damaged psychedelia that is not so much flying into the sun as it is drowning in the concrete. Direct and sharp compositions that are heavily influenced by modern noise, no wave and free jazz.

Inner Ear Brigade: Inner Ear Brigade’s music stretches boundaries and sweeps genres. Their music fits somewhere between jazz, experimental new music, art-rock, funk, and progressive rock. Utilizing the vintage sounds of a Hammond B3 organ, Fender Rhodes, and Moog synthesizer, vocals, vibes, and viola, you may notice sounds that are all at once sweet and silly, riff-crazed, but deceptively free and simple. I.E.B. is inspired by the sounds of Sun Ra, Japanese prog duet ‘Ruins’, French epic proggers ‘Magma’ as well as a host of other denizens of boundary pushing music.
