Talk More formed in 2013 to explore new forms of collaboration through total democratic dialogue. A trio of seasoned performers and improvisers, their music inhabits the fuzzy regions between improvisation and composition, ambience and noise, accessibility and experimentation, stasis and movement, drone and melody. Three recipients of Mills College’s MFA in Electronic Music, they use their educational foundation in the avant-garde to bring academic concepts of psychoacoustics, structure, form, and texture to a purely aesthetic experience which requires no advanced degrees to appreciate.

BEAST NEST
Beast Nest is the primary performance vehicle for Sharmi Basu, a queer South Asian woman of color focused on creating experimental music as a means of decolonizing musical language. One day, Sharmi aspires to have an ensemble called “Dog Divas,” which will feature her lying in the grass surrounded by Casio keyboards played by overexcited 6-week-old puppies.

THE NORIEGAS
The Noriegas come from a long lineage of psych-rockers originally centered around the KZSU Stanford radio nexus. With a global encyclopedia of influences, their open-ended free-jazz approach reflects the isolated dystopian landscape of the Hunter's Point naval yard, where the group rehearses. Over the years, the Noriegas' revolving-door lineup has played rent parties, pagan festivals of the 1%, coffee shop noise blowouts, and live radio broadcasts. This recent iteration features two drummers, caveman-minimal industrial basslines, and a guitarist whose tabletop electronic style developed after a crippling arm fracture. Much like that arm, the Noriegas' sound is fractured yet somehow eventually functional, spinning off into seemingly fractal tangents before coalescing around a throbbing, primordial pulse. No song is ever performed twice.
