Artist Dohee Lee will perform her piece, 巫 - MU, considering its connection with Sack's book, Seeing Voices, in which deafness is illuminated through the examination of vibration and body language.

"巫 - MU" is a word for "shaman" in Korea. Lee's work is deeply influenced by Korean shamanism and incorporates both traditional and contemporary practices including Korean percussion, electronics and sensors to create a new ritual form. This performance will feature work from her upcoming project ARA in 2016-17.

Born on Jeju Island in South Korea, Dohee Lee studied Korean dance, music, percussion and vocals at the master level. Since her arrival in the US she has been a vital contributor to both the traditional and contemporary arts landscape of the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. She has performed in venues and festivals around the world and has collaborated with a wide range of artists such as Kronos Quartet, Anna Halprin, Joan Jeanrenaud, Larry Ochs, Rova Quartet, Amara Tabor-Smith, Shinichi Iova Koga, Degenerate Art Ensemble and many others.
