Adam Hirsch / Alex Christie duo Plus OMMO

East Bay composer/improvisers Adam Hirsch and Alex Christie re-imagine together the extended languages of the saxophone and the computer through duo improvisations.

Alex Christie is a San Francisco Bay Area composer, performer, improviser, and educator working in the worlds of both acoustic and electronic music. His work is the hybridization of hyper-intellectualized contemporary music theory and a childish obsession with explosive sound and bright, flashing lights. Alex holds a BM from the Oberlin Conservatory in Composition and TIMARA (Technology In Music And Related Arts) and an MFA from Mills College in Electronic Music and Recording Media. He frequently collaborates with choreographers and dancers and has been commissioned by Cleveland-based dance company GroundWorks Dancetheater and Seattle-based choreographer K.T. Niehoff.

Adam Hirsch is a composer, songwriter, and improviser based in Oakland, CA. He makes music with saxophones, computers, analog electronics, and his voice, among other things. Working in chamber music, free improvisation, multimedia and pop experiments, his music lives at the fringes of expanding timbral and emotional landscapes. He currently studies electronic music and recording media at Mills College, and his mentors include Fred Frith, Maggi Payne, John Bischoff, Roscoe Mitchell, and Peter Swendsen.

OMMO is an electro-acoustic duo comprised of Julie Moon and Adria Otte. Launched in 2014 with collaborative projects inspired by shared interests in Korean diasporic identity, ritual and impressionistic harmonies, the duo seeks opportunities to explore past traditions through a contemporary and conscious framework, employing varying configurations of piano, voice, violin and electronics in original compositions.
