David Kant and Andrew C. Smith rework and reinterpret pieces by David Dunn, Larry Polansky, and Robert Ashley. David Kant performs David Dunn’s “Thresholds and Fragile States,” for a network of eight chaotic oscillators, using his digital implementation of the original analog circuits. Andrew C. Smith performs Larry Polansky’s solo piece "Piano Study #5” for just intonation Fender Rhodes, drawing on Polansky’s performance history and archival recordings of the piece. Finally, the duo performs “The Park” from Robert Ashley’s Perfect Lives, with saxophone, Rhodes, and electronics, following the composer’s instructions that the “score” for the piece is the text itself.
