The probability that the primary role of the artist is to provide stylistic disorientation is increased when we examine more generally how human beings behave when they experience disorientation, of which we may distinguish three varieties: awareness of the gap between appropriate and actual demands of interaction, lack of appropriate sensibilities for the situation, inability to interact with the situation at all. This third can spur the individual to insulate from the environment and its demands, and the most extreme forms of desire for insulation may lead to psychogenic death. The intercessor or psychoanalyst intensify psychic insulation from the environment to occasion exposure to the most disturbing forces, so powerful as to have a deep-seated physiological effect. The scientist, the philosopher, the scholar, the athlete, all require psychic insulation through stylized disorientation. Ethanol is served, so interactors must surpass the twenty first year of life in order to gain admittance. The doors open at 7:45pm and a five dollar contribution is solicited at the entrance. Behaving in the role of artist, four individuals will successively occasion perceptual fields, presented in order last to first:

Sam Ashley
Sam Ashley has devoted his life to the development of an experimental, trance based mysticism. He has been a witch-doctor for almost 48 years. This mysticism is the source of his music/art, which is about luck, hallucination, coincidence. finding ways to amplify imaginary sound and authentic spirit possession. Ashley offers simple windows onto things that occur in-between the "real world" and that which transcends it.

Alex Cruse
Cruse infuses the inhuman digital with intuition, combining randomized interactions of layers and language until the program implodes and she can reconfigure the rubble into a new code to be deciphered. At the root of her practice lies a tension: “how to reveal a revolutionary capacity in works that are tenants on capitalism’s 4D landscape?”

Joshua Churchill
Sound artist, Churchill, creates site-specific installations and live performances, often blurring the line between the two and often in collaboration with filmmaker Paul Clipson, in doom drone trio Riqis, and in the black metal noise project Sutekh Hexen.

Windowpain Industries
Salt of the San Francisco earth, instigator, and collaborator whose work has woven through countless public spaces and anonymized collaborative projects, Stephen Abbate, tirelessly tickles and edifies listeners with his radio program, then soaks them face to face from his fretless firehose siphoning sound and vision directly from the distilled cisterns of his lifelong vocation.
