Oakland Freedom Jazz Society: Beauty School + Footsos
BEAUTY SCHOOL
Matt Chandler: electric bass
Tom Djll: trumpet/ modular synth
Jacob Felix Heule: drums
We play a form of electro-acoustic improvised music that has been highly influenced by the modern noise scene, lowercase, and early electronic music. Extreme extended techniques on electric bass, trumpet, and percussion intermarry with nasty homemade electronics and circuit-bent keyboards to re-define the boundaries of a kind of beauty that as yet has no name. Music can be avoided.
Djll and Heule got together to try out some ideas from a Nicolas Collins hardware hacking workshop, and invited Matt Chandler (of Burmese) to make sure it didn't get too quiet. It ended up sounding like the nastiest seconds of an electric Miles concert splintered off and expanded into their own band. Chandler named the band Beauty School after the Idea Fire Company album.

Sticky sweet. Is these three ladies or what with some secret returning to subterfuge or something like a tribute band of lost nostalgic selves. Is it bad times for gluttons and low-carb false consciousness? Or the burnt burrito butt of at least one former sugar baby turned sugar cougar. Vegan nut cheesin’ in the Bay 100% natural flavoring. Tartine dumpstering: A collective fiction or queef centric punning? Memorable ditties! Definitely 85% human. Or more like uhhhh 2sweet 2b 4gotten.
