Ilana Walder-Biesanz: Trousers and Tragediennes
Ilana Walder-Biesanz (mezzo-soprano) and collaborative pianist Daniel Alley present a recital of arias in five languages, ranging from Baroque laments to drinking songs. The program includes "trouser role" arias by Mozart, Gluck, Gounod, Handel, and J. Strauss, as well as "tragedienne" arias by Massenet, Bizet, Purcell, Tchaikovsky, and Cavalli. Bonus features include a kitschy alliterative title, a gratuitous change of clothing, and an appearance by a guest baritone.
