Sheldon Brown Group

The music of Sheldon Brown Group is a blend of driving odd meter grooves, infectious melodies and lush, compelling harmonic landscapes.

Composer and woodwind multi-instrumentalist Sheldon Brown has been active on the Bay Area creative music scene for over 30 years. In 2014 he premiered his commissioned extended work, Blood of the Air, at SFJAZZ Center as part of the 32nd annual San Francisco Jazz Festival. He is an original member of Electric Squeezebox Orchestra, and has composed and arranged for that group since its inception in 2015. Brown has toured extensively with Omar Sosa and other notable ensembles, and performs with many Bay Area artists, such as Ben Goldberg and Ian Carey. He has performed with many of Graham Connah’s various ensembles, and he composes, arranges and performs with Clarinet Thing, Club Foot Orchestra and Hemispheres.

Brown formed Sheldon Brown Group in 1991 to perform his original music. They have performed extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area, including performances at the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Yoshi’s Nitespot in Oakland and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. They released Shifting Currents in 1996, and plan to release another CD later this year.
