ABOUT THE ARTIST:
PC Muñoz‘s body of work includes Grammy-nominated contemporary classical music, CMJ-charting funk music, an award-winning haiku CD, and compositions for film and dance. He has collaborated with rock legend Jackson Browne, longtime Kronos Quartet cellist Joan Jeanrenaud, Emmy-winning virtuoso Van-Anh Vo, and Oakland hip-hop phenom Kev Choice, among others. Muñoz was a 2013 Equilibrium Fellow at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, a 2015 Dresher Ensemble Artist-in-Residence in Oakland, and his work has been praised by NPR, Performing Songwriter, DownBeat, and more. His new digital album, Physical Science, is a suite of drum-driven compositions that feature instruments—such as the belembaotuyan, an instrument from his Micronesian roots—and vocals performed by Muñoz. Special guests include SoVoSo vocalist Bryan Dyer and avant-garde woodwinds renegade Kyle Bruckmann. A hard-copy chapbook, Inside Pocket of a Houndstooth Blazer, accompanies the release with poetry, art, flash fiction, comics, and more. Download cards with bundled chapbooks will be available at the show.
