23five and Chinese Culture Center SF present Yan Jun, musician, poet and cultural critic from Beijing, in duo performance with local artist Gabby Wen, solo performance and a talk on experimental music in China.

Yan Jun (颜峻) is a musician and poet based in Beijing.
Using feedback, field recording, voice, body movement, environment, interval and background, he works on improvised music and experimental music.
He is a member of FEN (Far East Network) connecting experimental musicians across Asia, and Tea Rockers Quintet and is founder of the guerrilla label Sub Jam which publishes work and organizes concerts in China.

Gabby Wen (文怡) is an improviser, composer, sound/performance artist, who often employs improvisation, synthesis and movement. Born in Taishan, Guangdong, raised in Shenzhen and the East Bay, she is currently based in San Francisco, CA. She embraces the stochastic and disordered nature of the reality, the obsolete, and the dysfunctional, but equally appreciates the peace and the unwavering. Works with code, modular synthesizers, homemade electronics, field recordings, guqin (Chinese seven-stringed zither), amplified found objects, body & more, and holds a BA in Art & Technology from Mills College.
