Thomas Dimuzio, solo electronics
Gliss Glass Gong (Krys Bobrowski and Karen Stackpole)

San Francisco-based Thomas Dimuzio is one of those unsung artistic figures whose influence and abilities have substantially outstripped his visibility. Composer, collaborator, experimental electronic musician, multi-instrumentalist, improvisor, sound designer and mastering engineer - Dimuzio has been busy doing his thing(s) since the late 1980's, but is still only known to a small circle of electronic music enthusiasts. A true sonic alchemist who can seemingly create music events out of almost anything. The BBC has described his work as "brilliant and rarely less than entertaining".

Krys Bobrowski and Karen Stackpole, long-time collaborators in the improvising quartet Vorticella, organically formed a duo combining Stackpole’s Gongs with Bobrowski’s Gliss Glass, an invented instrument of her own design that consists of water-filled glass vessels mounted on telescoping stands that are interconnected with tubes and valves. By varying the height of the vessels and opening and closing the valves, Bobrowski can dynamically alter the pitch of the sound by changing the level of the water as the instrument is played via friction, mallets, bare hands, and splashes. The sounds are captured via piezo pickups and amplified. The Gliss Glass blends extremely well with the sound of the Gongs played by Stackpole, who employs various techniques with friction mallets, bows, and other implements. Karen Stackpole and Krys Bobrowski create a deep sonic journey that unfurls into an engaging and transcendent soundtrack for the imagination.

When are we going to stop taking COVID precautions? Not yet -- COVID levels are down, but still dangerously high for many people. Seating will be strictly limited -- we may have to turn you away if we fill our (reduced) capacity. You must be vaccinated against COVID, and you must wear a mask while on the premises. We won't have any snacks, because it seems to me like that's incompatible with masking.
