You may be surprised to learn that following the fragmentation of light into iris and particulate force hooded figures, behoven to sleight of mind and material craft fashioned together an interstitial labyrinth comprised of infinitesimal liminal nodes (a triumph of lattice-work) spanning the gap between ought and naught.

Of course, we've all been taught that a single node, relentlessly petitioned by the Will to Purpose took on a fiendish, emerald luster and with a terrifying burst of polychromatic splendor split in twain, yielding Enchantress and Architect apportioning dominion of certainty and sortilege. And thus were borne the peculiarities of form.

Retro Blue 9pm
Jim Ryan sax/flute/vocals
Eli Wallace piano/keys
Eric Marshall e-bass
Timothy Orr drums
Plus a Special Appearance by Rent Romus on Akbar’s Parlor

Retro Blue is a band that fully embraces the jazz tradition: swing, bop, blues, r&b, and free style. It also explores uncharted sonic areas. Within the tradition it features several originals: (BS’n Charlie, How Are You? Jimmy’s Jump, and Run From Baby Blues). In fact, all of the tunes are originals except for an occasional old chestnut now residing in the public domaine. Sensitive and communicative free improvisation is another strong element of the ensemble. Jim Ryan, who conceived the band on a bright starry night under the influence of a full moon while chained to a tree, decided that he would draw from the entire history of the music, past & future; from foot pounding drive to cerebral coruscations, avoiding an exclusionary approach and striving for that old, good-time feeling with a bit of thoughtfulness on the side. The musicians range from young masters still in their twenties to veterans in their forties, and up.
