Jim Ryan, longtime improvising conspirator and stalwart of the local jazz/improv scene, slaps together yet another all-star version of his Forward Energy free jazz collective, this time with very special guest EDDIE GALE! The legendary Eddie Gale has played with the legendary jazz likes of Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra, and, arguably Miles's most famous (and infamous) sideman, John Coltrane. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Eddie has been living in San Jose for the past 20+ years, and has been active in the Bay Area scene as well.

Also, jazz aficionado and action painter Victoria Brill will be painting live during the performance. What's she gonna paint? Only one way to find out...

"Jim Ryan's 'Forward Energy' makes good on its name by sustaining a compelling momentum while tearing through the boundaries commonly constraining mainstream jazz ensembles."
