west coast reed wizards use bela bartok’s 44 duos as a springboard for improvisation and an exploration of folksong material. combining the earthy lyricism of the material with imaginative arrangements, the duo weaves in and out of these short works to link peasant themes with solo and duo improvisation to combine music of the past with in-the-moment musical commentary of today.
