Tatsuya Nakatani solo - US Tour
Extended length solo percussion by Tatsuya Nakatani. Performance length between 60 to 120 minutes.
From Tatsuya Nakatani:
I am a percussionist working with acoustic sounds. I have been performing with extended percussion techniques that have been the center of my creative music activity for over a decade of touring in the Unites states and beyond. Through hundreds of live improvisational solo percussion performances, I have a clear image about what ideally can maximize the live performances.
Solo acoustic percussion performance is a challenge. The concert is physically demanding but is also affected by today's environmental conditions. These conditions are always fluid, and tend to change in unexpected ways. Regardless of how the instruments were set up with a detailed sound check, a lot can change once the audience enters the space. Performance factors also depend on the size of the venue, construction of the building's walls, floor, ceiling and architectural structure, as well as the size of audience and type of people, temperature, humidity, lighting.
In 2016 I was inspired by the deep silence at Rothko chapel in Houston while visiting on my US tour. From that moment I started to imagine new way of selected solo performance, ranging from 60 to 120 minutes.
