On Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 7:30pm, Tom's Place presents

Magda Mayas, piano
Tony Buck, percussion
with special guest
Gino Robair, unpopular electronics

Magda Mayas is a Berlin-based pianist, concentrating on its sonic possibilities, utilizing extended techniques, amplification and preparations as a process of abstraction, whilst focusing on the physicality of both internal and external parts of the piano. Last year she began her phD studies at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.

Tony Buck is a drummer and percussionist hailing from Australia. He has spent several decades performing with the avant-garde crowd there and elsewhere, hitting it off particularly well in Europe and eventually relocating to Amsterdam, then Berlin.

Joining them will be Gino Robair, one of the "25 innovative percussionists" included in the book Percussion Profiles (SoundWorld, 2001). As usual, Gino is being coy about exactly what instrument he will be playing. All he will say is "unpopular electronics", which raises the question "unpopular with whom?" Not with us, you can bet.
