Jenny Scheinman and Myra Melford

A meeting of two visionary artists, with violinist Jenny Scheinman and composer/pianist Myra Melford in a rare duo encounter. A veteran of the ensembles of Bill Frisell and Scott Amendola, Scheinman has worked with a staggering array of musicians including Norah Jones and Aretha Franklin, and released seven acclaimed albums as leader. Her 2005 release, 12 Songs, made The New York Times’ Top 10 Albums list. Melford is a 2013 Guggenheim Fellow and 2013 Doris Duke Performing Artist Award winner whose formative work with Henry Threadgill, Leroy Jenkins, and Butch Morris formed an expansive aesthetic that meets at the nexus of composition and improvisation, chamber music and the jazz tradition. She leads a number of exploratory ensembles including Snowy Egret, Trio M, Crush, and others.
