About Life's Blood Ensemble
Created in 1999 by saxophonist Rent Romus while on tour in northern Europe, LBE pays tribute as well as brings to light, reinvents, deconstructs, and breathes life into the deeper realms of their collective body of memory. Performing original music, as well as contemporary local and international composers, they explore the influences and inspirations that make the art of jazz and improvisation timeless. Their latest album Rising Colossus (2016) "offers an incisive and often exhilarating glimpse at a scene that Romus has played an essential role in shaping. Life's Blood Ensemble dives headlong into a disparate array of compositions, opening and closing the album with very different works inspired by epic tales..." (Andrew Gilbert SF Chron)

About Rogue Star
Rent writes "Rogue Star is an album of multiple influences keeping to the thematic mission of Life’s Blood Ensemble to honor the influences that make up our musical personae. One being our interest in science fiction and travel beyond borders. Our collective need to learn and grow and promote deeper thought, the need to embrace scientific methods of proof based reality in a time of increased gas lighting and lies by the political body throughout the world. Two, a need for escape that I think all free thinking people wish they could do. To find a better life, in our case through the creation of music is paramount in these times. The title track “Rogue Star” was inspired by the instrumental arrangement and performance of David Bowie’s last album Black Star. When Romus first heard the album he was taken the orchestral arrangement and avant quality by Donny McCaslin. “Rogue Star” also stands as a tribute and a musical wish for all of our living brothers and sisters who work tirelessly in life creating beautiful music to emerge from the underground exploding into the universe of ears across the world."
