On Wednesday, June 6 at 7:30pm, Tom's Place presents
Larry Ochs (sax)/
Donald Robinson (perc) duo
and
John Shiurba 3-3
(
John Shiurba (gtr), Scott Walton (cb),
Gino Robair (perc))
We're pleased to present the premier performance of the acousic version of
John Shiurba's group 3-3. Joining John (who will be playing acoustic guitar) will be
Gino Robair on drums and Scott Walton on double bass. Each 3-3 performance features three of John's compositions for trio, and this set is specially written for acoustic guitar with bass and drums.
Rounding out the show will be
Larry Ochs (of
Rova Saxophone Quartet) and
Donald Robinson (plays with everyone!: Braxton, George Lewis, Paul Plimley, etc. etc.) serving up their new duo music. This long-running duo plays intricate, high energy music marked by a virtuosity that does not obscure its solid free-jazz underpinnings.
